Losing your balance, feeling dizzy or moving unsteadily can change every aspect of your life. If you suffer from regular dizziness or imbalance problems, you may be experiencing a dysfunctioning vestibular system. Problems with this inner ear system can also contribute to depression, anxiety, muscle tension, fatigue, and headache.
Improve your balance. We can help!
Balance is maintained by 3 different systems working together in the body. The vestibular system originates in the inner ear, and its primary function is to detect head motion and send the proper signals to your brain. Vision also plays a critical role in balance. Joint proprioception, or the sensation that tells your brain where your body is in space, also affects our balance. When one system is not working or communicating with your brain correctly, your sense of balance becomes impaired.
Are you experiencing...
The most important part of improving balance is a Comprehensive Balance Assessment, performed by a licensed physical therapist. At Generation Care, we use different balance tests to help detect the causes for your loss of balance, and then develop an individual treatment plan with you to meet your goals. We utilize computerized balance testing, standardized tests, aquatherapy and different land-based therapies to help detect, treat, and restore the maximum potential of your own balance systems.
Balance and vestibular problems can be overcome or significantly improved by specific positioning treatments, exercises, and directed activities which challenge and stimulate each of the 3 balance-related systems.
